Cross Sector Renewable Fuel Supply Chains

Background and Challenge

The Transport Energy Network (TEN) is a collaboration working to develop a consensus view of pathways to net zero emissions for challenging applications with high journey energy requirements such as heavy duty trucks and off-highway machines. Run by the Thermal Propulsion Systems – Thermal Efficiency Spoke, located at the University of Brighton, Zemo Partnership and the Advanced Propulsion Centre, the Network has three key objectives:

  • To develop a consensus view of long-term R&D priorities for low and negative carbon fuels for use in clean, efficient thermal powertrains.
  • To enhance collaboration between fuel and thermal powertrain developers in industry and academia to support the delivery of these priorities.
  • To develop links to the energy systems community.

Objectives

This year’s work stream will focus on the following objectives:

  • To investigate collaborative activities that could accelerate decarbonisation.
  • To update the Automotive Council Energy and Fuels roadmap, working alongside the APC.
  • To work to understand fuels and feedstocks needed to provide energy for 2050 transport.

Actions and Outputs

  • Host 3 stakeholder webinars.
  • Produce an updated Automotive Council Energy and Fuels Roadmap.
