Zemo Partnership member KleanBus has announced an expansion of its bus repowering business to offer electric repower solutions to commercial vehicles and marine vessels under a new umbrella, KleanDrive.

KleanDrive will use technology already employed by KleanBus to convert diesel buses to battery-electric on all transport modes, including but not limited to current and future light commercial vehicles, heavy-duty vehicles, and marine vessels.

Joe Tighe, Chief Executive Officer of KleanDrive, says: “The launch of KleanDrive is a natural evolution of our business and innovative technology, reflecting our forward-thinking approach and our commitment to explore new opportunities that extend beyond the bus industry.

“This is the next step on our journey where our primary goal remains unwavering: to accelerate the transition to zero-emission vehicles for the betterment of our planet and all its inhabitants.

“Our mission is transforming transport and, with our innovative repowering technology offering a quick, cost-effective and sustainable shift to zero-emission, KleanDrive is ideally positioned to be the go-to solution provider in response to the urgent need to decarbonise across challenging and high-impact sectors.”

Kleanbus Ltd began operating in 2020 before announcing the completion of its first repowered prototype in January 2023. In October, the business announced its contract to convert 18 Lothian B5TL double-deckers to electricity.

Kleanbus is also supporting Zemo Partnership and EST's ZEVRAS (Zero Emission Vehicle Repower Accreditation Scheme) bringing rigour and robust assessment to the EV repower industry. For more information on this and Zemo’s other accreditation schemes contact the team.
