Competition launched for freight fuels of the future

The Department for Transport (DfT) has launched a competition to to support the development and deployment of sustainable low carbon fuels for use in aviation and HGVs. The Future Fuels for Flight and Freight ('F4C') aims to promote the development of an advanced UK low carbon fuels industry and also support the development of the related supply chain.

The F4C will provide up to £20 million in capital grant funding over 3 years (2018-21) for major demonstration projects providing transformative and innovative solutions. It will also provide up to £2m of Project Development Funding in 2017-18 to support the development of proposals.

The fund will operate in two stages: the first stage will focus on project development followed by a second stage centred on capital funding.

Stage One is open to applications between 27th April and 30th June 2017.
