Tue 16 October 2018 | Back to news list
BEIS has recently published a notice the availability of some innovation funding to fund a project which demonstrates Load Control functionality of Smart Meters infrastructure. The project involves designing, manufacturing and trialling a load control device which utilises smart meter infrastructure to deliver load control over an electricity load. It is expect the device will be trialled in the context of EV loads.
BEIS is currently in the process of engaging with interested industry parties to get views on the procurement and inform the tender drafting. Following short presentations at the Smart Meters Implementation ProgramTechnical & Business Design Group (TBDG) and LowCVP EV Task Force meetings on 18th and 22nd October respectively, BEIS is planning a longer engagement session on 2nd November, from 10:00-13:00, to include more detailed information and allow for discussion.
Should members of the EV Energy Taskforce be interested in attending, please write to Mili Malic (smartmeterSPMO@BEIS.gov.uk), as soon as you can, and latest by COB 19th October. There are a limited number of places available, which will be allocated to first 30 respondents. Any remaining interested parties would be welcome to dial in. BEIS personnel will also be available to discuss the project bilaterally or over the phone.
BEIS will confirm the attendance early in the week commencing on 22nd October, and will provide conference call details and presentation slides prior to the event.
Further details about the trial can be found here.
