City of York council is the first local authority in the UK to have an adopted Low Emission Strategy. This aims to reduce emissions of local air pollutants and GHGs by enabling the uptake of low emission vehicles and alternative fuels. We have recently introduced a number of low emission vehicle measures to the city of York such as electric vehicle charging points, Eco-stars freight recognition scheme, low emission taxi scheme, electric bus project, CNG refuelling study, electric vehicle demonstrator scheme. Our aim in joining the LowCVP is to share best practice of low emission measures across the range of transport groups which operate in York.
