Artemis Intelligent Power, owned by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, has developed a revolutionary, high efficiency hydraulic pump and motor technology. Working closely with leading global companies in the transport sector, our applications include energy-saving series and parallel drive systems for cars, buses and commercial vehicles. In independently conducted tests, the Artemis series-hybrid car achieved a 30% fuel and carbon saving on the European Driving Cycle with a 50% saving in urban driving Our 'bolt-on' braking energy recovery system for city buses has demonstrated the potential for 27% percent fuel savings and the mule vehicle is available for demonstrations near Edinburgh. Digital Displacement(R) technology was created to overcome the inherent limitations of conventional variable-displacement hydraulic machines and brings high efficiency, high bandwidth controllability and quiet operation to hydraulics.

Reseach & Development

Artemis is working with Danfoss Power Solutions to bring efficient hydraulics to the off-road vehicle market. We have also demonstrated regenerative braking as applied to a bus (Lothian Buses, Edinburgh) a light truck (well know Japanese truck manufacturer) and a DMU railcar.
