EV Energy Taskforce reconvenes to drive action in the electric transition and help deliver Net Zero


The Electric Vehicle (EV) Energy Taskforce  - the Government-backed initiative bringing together key players in the energy, infrastructure and transport sectors – is moving to take the next steps to drive the transition to electric vehicles while delivering benefits to EV drivers, consumers and to the UK’s electricity system. Full details will be announced at an online event to be held this afternoon.

Leeds says CAZ no longer required; Bath & Birmingham CAZs get go-ahead

A review by Leeds City Council and the Government has found that Leeds Clean Air Zone (CAZ) is no longer required due to recent improvements in air quality in the city. Meanwhile, the Government has approved plans for CAZs to go live in Bath and Birmingham in 2021 following delays linked to Covid-19.

New report highlights importance of smart technologies, EV-grid integration for reaching net zero A new report identifies 55 'high impact technology projects' that it says that Europe must embark upon in order to meet net zero by 2050. These include upgrading energy grids, enabling bifacial solar and driving EV deployment. The report explains how digital technologies are key to increasing flexibility, control of demand, supply and storage and improving aggregation of demand. Read more

Car makers race to meet EU 2020/1 CO2 targets by increasing EV sales New analysis by Brussels-based NGO T&E says that auto manufacturers are on course to meet EU regulated 2020/21 new car CO2 emissions targets, through a combination of strategies including increasing sales of EVs, improving ICE vehicles' emissions performance and 'pooling' emissions with other companies who have exceeded the target. EVs to reach cost parity with ICE cars by 2024 - new UBS analysis New analysis from global financial services firm UBS finds that electric cars will be no more expensive to make than conventional cars with internal combustion engines (ICE) by 2024. By the middle of the 2020s a UBS analyst says there will be few reasons left to buy an ICE car. Read more

DPD plans zero or low emission-only deliveries to 25 towns & cities by 2025 Leading parcel delivery company and LowCVP member DPD has announced plans to deliver to 25 of the UK's largest towns and cities with zero and low-emission vehicles by 2025. Read more
