EU sets emissions reduction targets for 2030


The European Commission (EC) has published proposed greenhouse gas reduction targets for member states by 2030, compared with 2005 levels. Countries with higher GDP per capita have been set tougher targets than less developed countries, with the UK set an emissions reduction target of -37%.

EU to introduce CO2 truck limits

The European Commission has announced that it will propose the first EU-wide legal CO2 standard for trucks by 2019.In contrast to passenger cars and vans, no binding EU-wide cap on CO2 emissions from trucks is in place currently.


Low Emission Bus scheme winners announced

The winners of the £30m Low Emission Bus scheme have been announced. The winners are 13 bus operator and local authority collaborations, and cover 326 low emission buses and associated infrastructure.

June hottest month on record after successive 14-month rise

June 2016 was 0.9C hotter than the average for the 20th century, and the hottest June in the record which goes back to 1880 according to two US agencies, Nasa and NOAA, breaking the previous record set in 2015, by 0.02C. It is the 14th consecutive month of record-breaking heat.

Low Emission Bus Showcase at LCV 2016

As part of the LowCVP’s 'The Year of the Low Emission Bus' celebrations, the partnership will be hosting a Low Emission Bus (LEB) Showcase at the Low Carbon Vehicle event 2016 taking place from the 14th -15th September. Visitors to the event will be transported across the Millbrook Proving Ground to the exhibition halls by a selection of the latest Low Emission Bus technologies, highlighting the variety of clean 'green' buses in operation in the UK today.


Formula E presenter Nicki Shields confirmed as MC for LowCVP Champions Awards

The LowCVP and Cenex-LCV2016 are delighted to announce that Formula E television presenter and science communicator Nicki Shields will be the Master of Ceremonies for this year’s LowCVP Low Carbon Champions Awards on 14 September.


Online emissions guide, van cost and carbon calculator tools revised and relaunched

The Low Carbon Vehicle Partnership and Cenex have updated their Low Emission Van Guide and accompanying Van Cost and Carbon Calculator (VC3) to provide fleet managers and policy makers with the very latest data on how to make cost and CO2 emissions savings.


Shortlist for 2016 LowCVP Low Carbon Champions Awards announced!

The Low Carbon Vehicle Partnership (LowCVP) has announced the shortlist of nominees for the 2016 edition of the prestigious Low Carbon Champions Awards. The Champions Awards celebrate innovation and best practice in the UK’s accelerating drive to cut carbon emissions from the road transport sector.

The Advanced Propulsion Centre’s UK Capability Study which was discussed at LowCVP’s conference on the 30th June has been published.


New study: Car sharing leads to reduced city ownership and emissions

A new study undertaken by the University of California Berkeley’s Transportation Sustainability Research Center (TSRC) has concluded that the car sharing model car2go can reduce the overall number of vehicles on the road as well as substantively impacting travel behaviour, miles driven and drive down GHG emissions in urban areas.

Euro Bus Expo 2016 - 01/11/2016

Euro Bus Expo 2016 is a leading international trade show offering visitors and exhibitors the opportunity to engage with an anticipated attendance of over 9,500 bus and coach industry professionals over the course of three days.

The show provides a platform to meet key decision makers and buyers from a range of operators, suppliers, local authority and community transport providers from over 40 countries. At Euro Bus Expo 2016 there will be some of the leading manufacturers and suppliers to the bus, coach and community transport industry from the UK, Europe and the rest of the world.


Cenex-LCV2016 - 14/09/2016

The 9th annual Low Carbon Vehicle Event, LCV2016, organised by Cenex, is being held at Millbrook near Bedford in England, on the 14 and 15 September 2016. Cenex-LCV2016 Networking Dinner will collaborate with LowCVP to feature the Low Carbon Champions Awards for the third consecutive year. 


Low Carbon Britain - 01/12/2016

Low Carbon Britain 2016 Developing a Smart, Resilient, Digital Society is a unique conference that will address Great Britain's current carbon reduction position and allow us to hear from those leading and driving the policies and proposals. One of the main focuses of the conference is to discuss how public sector and organisations along with towns, villages and cities can reduce their carbon emissions. In addition highlight the benefits of a low carbon society with more efficient workplaces , warmer healthier homes and benefit from improved air quality.
