OLEV announces £40m funding for Go Ultra Low Cities to promote greener vehicle uptake


London, Milton Keynes, Bristol and Nottingham/Derby were the winners of funding to promote green vehicle technology under the £40m Go Ultra Low City Scheme. £5 million of the funding is also being provided for four other specific initiatives in Dundee, Oxford, York and north east regions.

LowCVP launches initiative with Clean Air Alliance to join up low carbon and air quality agendas The LowCVP and the Clean Air Alliance have joined forces on an initiative which aims to bring the climate change and air quality communities closer together and to help ensure that UK vehicle and transport fuel policy is most effectively oriented towards tackling these twin threats. The initiative will be launched at a Parliamentary Reception which follows a related seminar on Tuesday March 1. Read more
LowCVP MD gives evidence to EFRA Select Committee The LowCVP Managing Director Andy Eastlake was called to give evidence this week to the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) Select Committee's inquiry into air quality. He was asked to comment on how the climate change and air quality agendas can be most effectively brought together.   Read more

Transport for London launches LoCITY project to cut urban emissions from road freight Transport for London has launched a new five-year industry-led programme to reduce the emissions of London's freight and fleet operators. Read more
DfT awards £7m for introduction of 439 cleaner buses The Department for Transport has announced the winners of the Clean Bus Technology Fund. £7m support is being awarded to 18 local authorities for the introduction of nearly 450 buses fitted with innovative technology to cut harmful emissions by up to 90%. Meanwhile, according to the latest industry statistics, more than half of all new buses and coaches registered in 2015 met the latest Euro-VI emissions standard. Read more
MEPs consider veto of real driving emissions decision MEPs have discussed a proposal to veto a draft decision on the Real Driving Emissions (RDE) test procedure with the internal market Commissioner. The decision will be put to the vote at the next plenary session in February. The European motor industry association said that a 'tough compromise' on the issue had already been agreed last year. APC announces £74m funding to develop new low carbon auto technology The Advanced Propulsion Centre (APC) has announced that five new, innovative projects to develop new low carbon and energy efficient technology in the automotive sector will receive £74m support. The five projects are expected to design new products and systems that will change technology used in the automotive sector from vans to high-end sports cars. They are the latest investment in the 10-year, £1 billion co-investment programme in advanced propulsion technology being spearheaded by the APC. Read more

London breaches air pollution limits in first week of new year Air pollution exceeded EU pollution limits in a part of London in the first week of 2016 according to reports. Putney High Street in West London breached annual limits for nitrogen dioxide (NO2), a toxic gas produced by diesel vehicles that has been linked to respiratory and heart problems. Read more

Lower Carbon, Cleaner Air: Joining up the climate change and air quality agendas - 01/03/2016

This Parliamentary reception and associated seminar mark the start of an initiative to bring the climate change and air quality communities closer together and to help ensure that UK vehicle and transport fuel policy is most effectively oriented towards tackling these twin threats. This event is jointly hosted by the Low Carbon Vehicle Partnership (LowCVP) and the Clean Air Alliance (CAA).


UK Bus Summit 2016 - 11/02/2016

The second annual UK Bus Summit will be held in London at the QEII Conference Centre, Westminster, once again supported by the Department for Transport. The event brings together operators, local authorities and the bus supply industry to encourage the industry to work together to stimulate patronage growth, and to raise awareness of the role the bus can play in stimulating the economy, getting people to work, reducing emissions, providing access for the elderly and tackling inequality. 


Future Fuels 2016: Automotive, Marine and Aviation - 26/04/2016

The links between CO2 from fossil fuels and global warming is firmly established, and the desire to reduce the CO2 emissions associated with transportation remains a key policy driver. This event will present an engineering view of how to ensure the ongoing reduction of C02 from the automotive world. (There are delegate fee discounts for LowCVP members.)


Future Powertrain Conference 2016 - 24/02/2016

The Future Powertrain Conference (FPC2016) is a two day UK event created to bring together industry and academic experts within the powertrain development field. It will open up presentations and discussions on the solutions to the challenges faced by the engineering industry in the UK and internationally over the next ten years.
