Main areas of involvement in the low carbon transport agenda
IEEP is a leading centre for the analysis and development of environmental policy in Europe and brings an independent analytical perspective to policy questions. It operates as a network with offices in London, Berlin and Madrid, and associates in other EU Member States and beyond. IEEP London also has an office in Brussels., IEEP’s research staff includes economists, lawyers and natural and social scientists. Our work focuses on EU environment policy, and environmental aspects of other sectoral policies such as transport, regional development, agriculture and fisheries. Members of IEEP staff have been involved in a broad range of transport and climate change policy at the European level. IEEP seeks both to raise awareness of European environmental policy and to advance policy-making along sustainable paths.
Transport is one of the IEEP’s priority sectors. Our work in this area covers a broad range of topics, including transport and climate change, fuel and vehicle taxation, environmental standards, assessment of transport infrastructure networks, and other relevant aspects of EU and Member State transport policy. We routinely track all specific transport-related initiatives in European Community policy, including the passenger car CO2 strategy, and have produced regular updates and articles for specialist publications and a range of clients. In recent years, members of IEEP staff have worked on various aspects of EU transport policy, including taxation in relation to company cars and both the UK and EU’s passenger car CO2 strategies.
