Main areas of involvement in the low carbon transport agenda

Microcab develops environmentally-friendly vehicles for light urban transport, e.g. taxis, light deliveries, service operations, and private use. Associated with Coventry University, the company emphasises ergonomics, attractive design, and compatibility with normal urban traffic. Innovative concepts, and light-weight materials give the required performance with very low energy use.

The H4 prototype seats 3/4, is wheelchair-accessible, and convertible to a van. Hydrogen/fuel-cell power with electric drive gives 100 miles range, emitting only water vapour. Alternative power systems include rechargeable batteries and a conventionally-fuelled hybrid delivering 150 mpg.

Microcab designs will be commercialised through partnerships for manufacturing and distribution.
