This year's LowCVP Low Carbon Champions Awards are being held in association with the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE). The Awards ceremony and reception will take place at the IMechE's headquarters and events venue on 14 November: One Birdcage Walk, Westminster.
The Institution of Mechanical Engineers was established in 1847 and has some of the world's greatest engineers in its history books. It currently has over 94,000 members, representing mechanical engineers involved in a diversity of fields such as the automotive, rail, aerospace, medical, power and construction industries.

Low Carbon Car / Van Manufacturer of the Year – HPI
Established in 1938 HPI is the market leader for vehicle history checks. Next Green Car is the UK's leading green car website providing expert and independent information to those researching more environmentally friendly cars. Central to Next Green Car is the Green Car Rating - a life cycle environmental rating for over 30,000 models commercially available in the UK since 2001. Going well beyond just tailpipe CO2 emissions, the simple colour-coded Green Car Rating expresses a vehicle's lifecycle environmental impact out of 100 ranging from 0 for the greenest vehicles to 100 for the most polluting.
Low Carbon Fuel Initiative of the Year – Michelin Tyre Public Limited Company
Michelin's long history of innovations, aimed at more economical, safer and more pleasurable driving, includes the first 'green' low rolling resistance tyre launched in 1992.
Independent tests show Michelin tyres to be number one in longevity and fuel economy (resulting in lower CO2 emissions). The soon-to-be-introduced Michelin Primacy 3 was also top in 3 safety criteria: wet cornering, wet and dry braking, as well as reducing fuel consumption by up to 70 litres over the tyre's life time.
Michelin's low rolling resistance tyres for cars, 4x4s, vans and trucks help to reduce the environmental impact of many types of vehicle.
Low Carbon Heavy Duty Vehicle Manufacturer of the Year – Road Haulage Association
The Road Haulage Association is the trade and employers organisation for the hire-or-reward sector of the road haulage industry. The RHA represents some 7,000 companies throughout the UK, with around 100,000 HGVs and with fleet size and driver numbers varying from one through to thousands. Generally, RHA members are entrepreneurs, including many family-owned businesses as well as some Plcs.
In addition to representation and campaigning, the RHA supports members by providing specialist information and advice, business networking, and a range of targeted training and other services.
