HPIAlan Bishop is the Industry Relations Director for HPI Limited, the UK’s foremost vehicle checking company. Alan is responsible for HPI’s public affairs programme and data contracts, many of which are with UK Government departments including the DVLA and the PNC.

Lord Jamie Borwick
Modec UKJamie is former Chairman of Modec, which until 2011 manufactured battery powered zero-emission urban delivery van. He is also a non-executive Director of Hansa Trust plc, Managing Director of Love Lane Investments Ltd, and Chairman of Federated Trust Corporation Ltd. Lord Borwick additionally serves as Chairman of Route2Mobility Ltd, funding wheelchairs and scooters for disabled people as part of the UK's Motability scheme, and of Oxis Energy Ltd, which is developing a new battery. Lord Borwick was Chief Executive of Manganese Bronze Holdings PLC, known for the manufacture of the London Taxi from 1987 to 2001, and then Chairman until 2003.

Ali Clabburn
liftshareIn 1998 Ali set up liftshare, an innovative website which helps people find others travelling the same way as them so they can share their journey. What started as a simple notice board in the student union has become the largest car sharing scheme in the world with over 450,000 members. Over 1000 employers and communities have joined the liftshare network. Ali was awarded the LowCVP Outstanding Individual Award 2010.

Rupert Furness
Department for TransportRupert Furness is the head of DfT’s Environment Policy and Delivery Division, responsible for coordinating the delivery of DfT’s climate change and air quality commitments. His previous posts in DfT have included advising Ministers on a range of transport and environment issues, and managing the implementation of the UK’s Renewable Transport Fuel Obligation.

Joe Greenwell
Ford Motor CompanyJoe Greenwell was appointed to the role of Chairman, Ford of Britain, on 1 January 2009. Joe is also the 2009 president of the UK automotive industry's trade organisation, the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT), and he is President of BEN, the Motor and Allied Trades Benevolent Fund.

Neville Jackson
Ricardo UK LtdProfessor Neville Jackson is currently Chief Technology and Innovation Officer at Ricardo UK Ltd. He is responsible for developing the future vision of powertrain and related vehicle technology at Ricardo and for the strategy, planning and execution of research and development. He has also been responsible for a wide range of future vehicle demonstrators featuring advanced powertrain concepts with cost effective improvements in fuel economy and emissions.

Stewart Kempsell
Shell InternationalDr Stewart Kempsell is General Manager in Shell’s Downstream CO2 group working closely with automotive OEMS and other partners outside Shell. He has worked to advance sustainable mobility for the last ten years including chairing the IPIECA fuels working group in the UNEP partnership of NGO’s, governments and industry which successfully phased lead out of gasoline in Sub Saharan Africa.

Darran Messem
Carbon TrustDarran Messem is International Director of the Carbon Trust, where he leads the development of the Carbon Trust’s international relations and business development. Previously Darran was Vice President of Fuel Development for Shell, where he lead the development of new fuel technology and products for Shell’s Downstream business, and General Manager Market Development for British Airways where he led customer insights and new business development.

Douglas Parr
GreenpeaceDr Douglas Parr is Chief Scientist and Policy Director at Greenpeace UK, looking after the science and political functions. Currently working on climate change policy in the power, heat and transport sectors, he has previously worked on a number of issues including GM crops, chemicals policy, green refrigeration, marine conservation and nuclear power.

James Primrose
BPJames Primrose took up the post of Global Strategy Manager in BP's Biofuel Business Unit within Alternative Energy in 2009. In addition James is a Board Member of the BonSucro (previously the Better Sugarcane Initiative) initiative that is developing a sustainability standard for sugar and ethanol derived from sugarcane.

Stephen Smith
Confederation of Passenger TransportCurrently Operations Director at CPT having held a number of senior Director and Management positions with Firstgroup, Metroline, Badgerline, South Yorkshire PTE and West Yorkshire PTE in a career spanning almost 40 years in the bus and coach industry.

Phil Spittle
Eddie Stobart LtdPhilip Spittle oversees Fleet Management and Operator Licensing for the Stobart fleet of over 6000 vehicles and trailers and has been with the company since 2005. In addition to traditional fleet management services he focuses on emission reduction initiatives and sustainable distribution policy.

Sheila Watson
FIA FoundationSheila Watson is Director of Environment at the FIA Foundation, a UK-based Charity which is committed to promoting safe sustainable mobility across the world. She is also Executive Secretary to the Global Fuel Economy Initiative, which seeks to support the development of fuel economy policies across the world, and a Research Associate with the UK's Green Alliance.

Neil Butcher
ArupNeil is an Associate Director, and manager of the Electric Vehicle Team at the engineering consultancy, Arup, in UK. He joined Arup in 2002, and started working in the field of low carbon vehicles 7 years ago, as manager of the European-funded SuperLight Car programme. He is currently programme manager of the CABLED low carbon vehicle demonstration project, as well as managing the Economics and Carbon Benefits contract of the Energy Technologies Institute's Plugin Vehicle Project.

Andrew Everett
Technology Strategy BoardAndrew joined the Technology Strategy Board in September 2007 as Lead Technologist in the Low Carbon Vehicle Innovation Platform. He was appointed Head of Transport in July 2010. In his time at the TSB Andrew has managed the Ultra Low Carbon Vehicle Demonstrator programme which will see more than 340 electric vehicles trialled in the UK in eight locations.

Andrew is currently a board member on the DfT Low Carbon Vehicle Public Procurement Programme Board and a member of the Automotive Technology Council.

Paul Clarke

Managing Director, Promote Environmental CommunicationPaul Clarke is Managing Director of Promote Environmental Communication, a consultancy specialising in low carbon and sustainability communication, established for over 20 years. In 2006 Paul founded the UK’s original green car news website, Green-Car-Guide.com, and is still editor of the site today. In his consultancy role, Paul has worked on low carbon, sustainability, and environmental communication projects for clients ranging from ScottishPower Renewables, the International Union for Conservation of Nature and the National Trust, to Shell. Today, much of Paul’s consultancy work relates to communication and promotion surrounding low carbon vehicles. In his role as editor of Green-Car-Guide.com, Paul is often amongst the first to drive and review forthcoming low carbon cars, and Paul often speaks at conferences and in the media, such as on the BBC, on the subject of the latest green cars.

Michael Hurwitz
Head of Environmental Policy and Delivery, OLEVThe Office for Low Emission Vehicles is a cross-Whitehall team responsible for placing the UK at the global forefront of ultra-low carbon vehicle development, demonstration, manufacture and use. Michael’s policy responsibilities include consumer incentives and infrastructure support to stimulate the market for electric vehicles, oversight and direction of the government’s R&D spending in this area and EU regulation of CO2 emissions from cars and vans.

Simon Best
Institute of Advanced MotoristsSimon Best is Chief Executive at the IAM (Institute of Advanced Motorists). Simon joined the IAM in 2008 from GE Capital Solutions where he was responsible for the BT business partnership, thought to be the largest partner programme of its type in Europe. An accountant by profession, Simon was previously the sales director at Liberata and before that spent ten years at Lex Vehicle Leasing, where he rose to Corporate Sales Director.

Ben Lane
Next Green CarDr Ben Lane is an independent consultant providing advice on how to reduce the environmental impact of road transport through the promotion of low carbon vehicles. Ben is founding director of Ecolane Consultancy and a member of STS, the Sustainable Transport Solutions network. He has provided input to a number of key agencies including, in the UK: the Low Carbon Vehicle Partnership, Department for Transport, Transport for London, Energy Saving Trust, and the RAC Foundation. His key areas of expertise include: environmental impact assessments of cleaner vehicle technologies; and market promotion strategies for ultra-low carbon vehicles with particular focus on the role of the consumer.
