  • Reading Buses attempts to set world record for fastest service bus

    Reading Buses are to attempt to break the world record for the fastest bus. If successful it will see a compressed natural gas bus reach speeds of at least 80mph - around 50 per cent faster than the normal 55mph limit.

  • Helsinki invests millions in electric buses

    The Helsinki Regional Transport Authority (HSL), a joint manager of public transport systems in the metropolitan cities of Helsinki, Espoo, Vantaa, Kauniainen, Kerava, Kirkkonummi and Sipoo, closed an agreement with the new Finnish electric bus manufacturer Linkker in February 2015 for the acquisition of electric buses. The first stage of this 5-6 million euro acquisition agreement will see HSL add 12 electric buses to its fleet.

    The UK’s first hydrogen bus refuelling station has been officially opened in Aberdeen. The £19m scheme has been backed by both the EU and the UK and Scottish Governments.The depot at Kittybrewster will provide fuel for a fleet of ten green buses which hit the streets this year.

  • Low Emission Bus Scheme funding guidance launched for England and Wales

    Guidance for the Low Emission Bus (LEB) Scheme for England and Wales has been published. The £30m scheme, developed by the Department for Transport with support from the LowCVP, is the follow up to the Green Bus Fund which awarded funding based on the Low Carbon Emission Bus accreditation scheme which has seen the introduction over 2,000 low carbon emission buses into UK bus fleets.
