Universities face big transport challenges: Often with multiple sites, large numbers of staff and students and significant carbon targets universities have a complex array of issues to overcome to create a safe, sustainable and environmentally friendly organisation.
This free webinar - jointly organised by the LowCVP and ACT TravelWise focused on two key areas which will help to contribute to a sustainable transport policy - parking and integrated transport planning.
The webinar was chaired by Dawn Dewar, Chair of the ACT TravelWise, Eastern Regional Group and Transport Coordinator for the University of East Anglia. Dawn was the architect of a successful university Travel Plan.
Chris Hanley of SKM Colin Buchanan discussed emissions-based parking policies, looking at the benefits of setting charges against emissions; scheme and permit design, effective communication with unions and using parking technology to estimate scope 3 emissions for car commuting.
Dr. Rebecca Johnson of Integrated Transport Planning presented on the subject: ' Towards a Greener Fleet: a 4-Step Plan'. She examined fleet management policy, reducing mileage, increasing efficiency and using cleaner fuels and new technology.
This webinar is aimed at those responsible for the transport strategy and delivery in universities and for those working with universities to implement a sustainable transport plan.
