UK announces that it will ratify Paris climate treaty, following US & China


The UK will back its commitment to tackling climate change by ratifying the Paris Agreement before the end of the year, the Prime Minister has announced. China and the United States - jointly responsible for 38% of the world's greenhouse gas emissions - have also recently announced that they will ratify the agreement.

MPs group says government must make stronger commitment to sustainable transport to meet targets

In a new report, the Environmental Audit Committee says that the Government needs a clear strategy to increase the use of ultra-low emission vehicles and reduce air pollution so that it can meet decarbonisation and air quality targets.


London to boast Europe's largest electric bus fleet by the end of 2016

London's Mayor Sadiq Khan has announced the introduction of 51 more electric buses for the city which will mean it will have Europe's largest E-bus fleet by the end of 2016. The Mayor says the moves are the first steps towards all 300 central London single deck buses becoming zero emission.


£84m in joint Government and industry funding for low carbon propulsion technology announced at LCV2016

The latest investment in a 10-year, £1 billion co-investment programme in advanced propulsion technology was announced by Nick Hurd, Minister for Climate Change and Industry, at the Low Carbon Vehicle Event (LCV2016). Five new projects have been awarded grants to develop low carbon propulsion technology in the UK.

Uber strikes deal with Nissan to deploy 50 EVs in London

The ride-sharing service Uber has struck a deal with Nissan which means that users of the service will soon have the opportunity to ride in electric vehicles in London.


'Electric Nation' project seeks EV drivers to help in largest electricity network capability trial

Motorists buying or leasing a new electric car – including pure EVs and plug-in hybrids – are invited to become part of the Electric Nation project. The initiative is looking for 500-700 electric vehicle drivers to be part of the world’s largest trial of its kind, to ensure local electricity networks can cope with increasing numbers of EVs.


Alexander Dennis to add 100 low carbon bus-building jobs with record R&D grant

LowCVP member Alexander Dennis (ADL) says it will create over 100 new low carbon bus-building jobs at its factory in Falkirk, Scotland following the award of a £7.3m grant from Scottish Enterprise which aims to accelerate the company's nnovative £31 million low carbon vehicles programme.

LowCVP announces Low Carbon Champions Award Winners 2016

The Low Carbon Vehicle Partnership (LowCVP) announced the 2016 Low Carbon Champions last night at the industry’s leading networking dinner, held in association with Cenex LCV2016, in Milton Keynes. The Champions Awards celebrate achievement and innovation in moving the UK to lower carbon road transport.


LowCVP to host UK eBus Summit for Horizon 2020 project

The LowCVP is hosting a national launch event for the Horizon 2020 project 'Electrifying Public Transport in Citites' or eLITPIC. The UK e-Bus Summit on 10 November will showcase best practice examples of electric bus and infrastructure deployment in the UK alongside an introduction to the variety of demonstration projects being undertaken across 12 European cities, including London.


LowCVP celebrates UK’s pacesetting adoption of low emission buses at LCV2016

Delegates at Cenex-LCV2016 (Sept 14-15)  -  the UK’s largest technology showcasing and networking event for the low carbon vehicle community - were transported in some of the latest examples of low emission bus technology which are now being adopted in large numbers by UK operators, thanks to an initiative by the LowCVP.

Shell Springboard seeks entries - to support bright ideas for a lower carbon future

The annual Shell Springboard awards will be open for entries between 26 September and 28 October, 2016. Part of Shell’s global initiatives to support entrepreneurs with bright ideas for a lower carbon future, the programme is seeking applications from UK businesses with commercially viable solutions to reduce carbon emissions. 


Job vacancy: Low Carbon Vehicles Consultant - E4tech, London

Low carbon and low emission vehicles are one of the fastest growing areas of E4tech’s business. We want to reinforce our London team with an additional employee. To complement E4tech’s existing knowledge we are keen to strengthen our electrical energy skills in particular, at a component, vehicle and energy system level. We would also like to extend our networks in continental Europe.

The LowCVP UK e-Bus Summit - 10/11/2016

The LowCVP UK e-Bus Summit will bring together best practice examples of electric bus and infrastructure deployment in the UK alongside an introduction to the Horizon 2020 "Electrification of Public Transport In Cities" (eLIPTIC) project. eLIPTIC aims to trail and demonstrate the business case for using existing infrastructure to support the charging of buses and other modes of transport across 12 European cities.

Electric vehicles: solving the rural mobility challenge - 09/11/2016

The event identifies how electric vehicles can be used as a viable transport option for rural businesses and motorists through new research from a demonstrator trial in Warwickshire. (Warwickshire Rural Electric Vehicle project – WREV)
