DfT invites industry stakeholders to join research to raise renewable fuel use in CVs

The Department for Transport (DfT) is inviting industry stakeholders to help them investigate ways to eliminate market barriers to the greater uptake of higher biocontent fuels such as B20 and HVO in HGV fleets.
Arising from the 2021 Transport Decarbonisation Plan, the DfT is exploring how market barriers to the adoption of fuels with higher biocontent can be overcome in the pursuit of accelerating road transport GHG emission reduction.
Participants are invited to complete a short survey. The DfT says that the feedback is crucial for developing realistic strategies to incentivise the use of higher biocontent fuels as an interim decarbonisation solution as battery electric and hydrogen fuel cell (HFC) options are further developed.
The survey aims to gather perspectives from those directly involved in procuring and operating HGV fleets. Participation in the survey will help inform future decision-making processes regarding alternative HGV fuelling options.
The deadline for participation is 3rd May, 2024.
Zemo Partnership has an active programme to promote renewable fuels uptake in commercial vehicle fleets. Zemo recently produced guides to renewable fuels and options for heavy duty vehicles (see this link).
Zemo also runs the Renewable Fuel Assurance Scheme which verifies claims made by companies supplying renewable fuels to heavy duty vehicle and equipment operators regarding their product’s GHG emission savings and provenance of raw material feedstocks.
